What race distances are available?

Wharf to Wharf 2026 offers events for a range of abilities including:

• Full Marathon Run / Walk

• Half Marathon (Track or Road) Run / Walk

• 10 km Run / Walk

• 5 km Fun Run / Walk

Where does the race start and finish?

The main Wharf to Wharf course runs from Port Fitzroy Wharf to Tryphena Wharf across Aotea Great Barrier Island. Some races may have check-in points at Port Fitzroy, Okupu, Medlands, Tryphena, depending on the event.

Is race day transport available on the island?

Competitors who pre-book race transport will be picked up near their accommodation and taken to their race check-in location.

Note: No pickup is provided for the 5 km Fun Run at Tryphena.

​Are there age restrictions?

• Full Marathon: 18+

• Half Marathon:

  16+

• 10 km: ages 10–15 (participants aged 16+ enter the adult category)

• 5 km Fun Run: Open to all ages

​When do I receive my race number?

Race numbers will be issued during check-in on Friday 2 October 2026.

Participants in the 5 km Fun Run will receive their race number on race day at Tryphena Hall.

Will there be food and drink during the race?

Aid stations will provide water, energy drinks, and light snacks. Additional refreshments will be available at the finish areas.

​Where is prize giving held?

Prize giving will take place at Kaitoke School, with food and drinks available from around 5:00 pm and presentations beginning at around 6:00 pm.

Are event photos available?

Photos will be taken during the event and shared on the Wharf to Wharf website and social media after the race.

Can I purchase an event T-shirt?

​Yes. Official Wharf to Wharf souvenir T-shirts will be available for purchase on event day.
